2023 / 2024

Miss Charleston Variegated
C. japonica 'Miss Charleston Variegated'

The Coastal Carolina Camellia Society is a local society in the Charleston, South Carolina area affiliated with the American Camellia Society. Meetings are held at least monthly from August through May, and meeting locations and times are subject to change, since frequent garden visits during the bloom season are planned. For the latest information on where and when, please follow us on Facebook or contact us via email at: CoastalCarolinaCamelliaSoc@gmail.com

Meetings typically include either guest speakers or member provided programs on topics relating to camellia cultivation. These may include the general care of camellias, grafting, air layering, pruning, and applying gibberellic acid to obtain earlier and larger camellia blooms. Meetings may also include presentations of general interest featuring varied horticultural topics. There are always experienced camellia growers on hand to answer any camellia questions you may have. Come and join us!

The shows often have over 1,000 blooms on hand to enjoy and feature a camellia plant sale. It is free to the public and you are encouraged to come. Members will be on hand to assist newcomers that wish to exhibit. Up to the minute show times are available by contacting us at CoastalCarolinaCamelliaSoc@gmail.com. The 2026 show will be our 75th annual event, become a part of that tradition, you’ll enjoy it very much.

The club always offers camellia plant sales, a spring picnic and plant auction, field trips to local gardens, great programs and naturally, planning for our camellia shows. The shows are normally held on the fourth Saturday in January. Our frequent plant sales are generally large volume purchases, which allow us to offer plants more economically than you may find elsewhere.

The club's upcoming meeting information is always available on our Facebook page, that is: Coastal Carolina Camellia Society or please join our email notification list by contacting us via email at CoastalCarolinaCamelliaSoc@gmail.com.
